Mumbai: The Ogilvy Group China has appointed Yong Yuan as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Yuan steps up from his previous position as President of Ogilvy Advertising China.
In his expanded role, Yuan will have oversight of people, clients and growth across The Ogilvy Group in China, reporting directly to Chris Reitermann, Chief Executive Officer of WPP Greater China.
His responsibilities span leadership across the Group’s portfolio of businesses in the market, with a focus on driving deeper collaboration across its advertising, digital experience, social, influence and public relations disciplines. He will also work to strengthen alignment across the agency portfolio, which includes both Ogilvy and Grey — two brands that will continue to operate independently and maintain their distinct identities.
Yuan first joined Ogilvy in 2011, building a tenure of more than a decade within the network before ascending to the top role.
Reitermann spoke warmly of the appointment, noting that he has worked alongside Yuan for 15 years and has observed his development as a leader first-hand. He described the promotion as a reflection of the organisation’s long-term commitment to nurturing talent from within, and expressed confidence in Yuan’s ability to guide The Ogilvy Group China into its next phase of growth.
Yuan said he was honoured to take on the broader responsibility and expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him. He pointed to Ogilvy’s strength in brand thinking, creativity and integrated capabilities as the foundation from which he intends to drive further collaboration across the Ogilvy and Grey teams, create new opportunities for clients and build an environment in which people can produce the best work of their careers.
