Mumbai: ZebPay, a Bitcoin exchange, has announced the elevation of Anuj Kumar Garg as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Bala Pulavarthi as Vice President – Engineering, reinforcing its technology leadership as the company enters its next phase of platform innovation, artificial intelligence adoption, and engineering-led growth.
The appointments come as ZebPay continues to strengthen its focus on blockchain innovation, Web3 technologies, digital asset infrastructure, and AI-powered capabilities amid the rapid evolution of the global digital asset ecosystem.
In their expanded roles, Anuj and Bala will jointly drive the company’s long-term technology vision, platform scalability initiatives, infrastructure resilience, and operational excellence. Both leaders have played instrumental roles in strengthening ZebPay’s engineering and blockchain capabilities over the years, contributing to advancements in platform scalability, digital asset security, wallet infrastructure, and innovation-driven product development.

A seasoned technology leader with more than 25 years of experience across blockchain, artificial intelligence, automation, and enterprise transformation, Anuj assumes the CTO role after serving as Vice President – Engineering at ZebPay for over four years. In his new position, he will lead the company’s technology and product strategy, overseeing engineering, architecture, infrastructure, security, DevOps, and data functions.
He will also spearhead AI-led initiatives, platform modernization, cloud-native transformation, cybersecurity resilience, and innovation across blockchain, Web3, and emerging technologies. Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Anuj has actively contributed to the blockchain ecosystem as a mentor, researcher, speaker, and academic advisor, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Blockchain & Robotics.

Alongside Anuj’s appointment, ZebPay has elevated Bala Pulavarthi as Vice President – Engineering. With over 13 years of experience in technology, including more than a decade within the blockchain ecosystem, Bala has been instrumental in strengthening the company’s blockchain infrastructure, wallet architecture, digital asset operations, and security frameworks.
His expertise spans blockchain integrations, digital asset custody, distributed systems, wallet security, and scalable exchange infrastructure. Bala is also actively involved in research and mentorship and is currently pursuing a PhD in Blockchain & Robotics at IIT Mandi, focusing on the convergence of blockchain, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems.
