Mumbai: Zee has issued an advisory to hotels, commercial establishments and associated partners across India, reminding them of the intellectual property and broadcasting regulations governing the use of FIFA World Cup 2026 content and branding.
The advisory states that the terms “FIFA”, “World Cup 2026”, along with all FIFA logos, are protected trademarks and intellectual property. Their unauthorised use, reproduction or display in promotional materials, advertisements or any commercial communication is prohibited.
According to the advisory, only officially licensed partners and authorised entities are permitted to use FIFA trademarks and branding for commercial purposes.
Zee also reiterated that it is the exclusive streaming partner for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in India. The company has directed hotels and commercial establishments to ensure that all FIFA World Cup 2026 matches are streamed only through Zee’s authorised platform.
The advisory further cautioned that any unauthorised use of FIFA trademarks or unauthorised public streaming of tournament content could invite legal action, including penalties, suspension of services or other remedies under applicable intellectual property and broadcasting laws.
Zee has urged all establishments to exercise caution and strictly comply with the stated guidelines to avoid potential legal consequences.
