New Delhi: Boutique media firm Mandrake Tech Labs has appointed Rubbal Datta as CEO-Designate as it looks to strengthen its government communications business while expanding into AI-driven media solutions and new business initiatives. Datta is set to join the company in August 2026.
With more than 26 years of experience spanning government relations, media and sports broadcasting, Datta has held leadership positions at JioStar (formerly Disney Star), Sahara India TV Network, Moser Baer, EuroKids, and Mahindra & Mahindra. He has also worked extensively across Indian and South Asian markets.
Mandrake Tech Labs, which follows a 360-degree media action philosophy, said the appointment aligns with its plans to deepen its presence in government communications while leveraging artificial intelligence to drive future growth.
Commenting on the appointment, the Mandrake Board said, “Rubbal’s experience across government relations, public advocacy, and stakeholder engagement aligns directly with where we’re taking Mandrake. We’re confident in his ability to strengthen our market position and lead our push into AI-integrated media solutions and expanded public sector work.”
Sharing his vision for the role, Datta said, “I want to sharpen what Mandrake already does well — government communications — and bring AI into how we plan and run our campaigns. Beyond that, my focus is on getting Mandrake into newer businesses and scaling up what we’ve already built.”
Founded in 2021, Mandrake Tech Labs has executed several high-profile campaigns for government and public sector organisations, including the Ministry of Ayush’s International Day of Yoga campaign, the Ministry of Food Processing’s World Food India initiative, the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), and the WHO Traditional Medicine Summit. The company said Datta’s appointment is expected to support its next phase of growth, with a focus on AI-enabled media capabilities and expanded public sector engagements.
