Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals marks World Sleep Day with a digital film highlighting India’s growing sleep crisis
Share Share ShareShare

New Delhi: Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals has released a short digital film to mark World Sleep Day, drawing attention to the growing yet often overlooked health challenge of declining sleep quality in modern lifestyles. The initiative highlights the increasing prevalence of disturbed sleep patterns and emphasises the importance of restoring natural rhythms for sustained health and productivity.

In an era where professional ambition is closely tied to long work hours, late-night screen exposure and constant digital engagement, restorative sleep has increasingly become one of the first casualties of modern living. The film reflects a reality many individuals recognise but seldom question—waking up frequently during the night, struggling to fall back asleep or starting the day feeling fatigued despite spending sufficient hours in bed.

According to the campaign, these patterns are often dismissed as routine fatigue, but they may indicate deeper disruptions in the body’s natural rhythm. The film emphasises that sleep is far more than a period of rest; it is a critical biological process during which the body restores balance across essential systems including brain function, metabolism, hormonal regulation and immunity.

Despite its fundamental role in overall wellbeing, sleep disturbances are becoming increasingly common. Over time, these disruptions can affect memory, concentration, emotional stability, metabolic health and cardiovascular wellbeing.

Commenting on the initiative, Rajiv Vasudevan, Founder, MD and CEO, Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals, said, “Modern professional life has quietly normalised chronic fatigue, poor sleep and declining vitality as an unavoidable cost of ambition. In reality, these are often early signals that the body’s natural balance is being pushed beyond its limits. At Apollo AyurVAID, we speak about the idea of peak health, a state where individuals are not merely free from illness, but are able to sustain high levels of energy, clarity and resilience in their everyday lives. Through this campaign, we hope to shift the conversation around sleep from something people sacrifice to something they consciously protect. Restorative sleep is fundamental to sustained performance, sound decision-making and long-term wellbeing. Recognising its importance early is often the first step towards restoring balance and enabling people to function at their true potential.”

Viewed through the lens of Ayurveda, sleep deprivation is not merely a lifestyle inconvenience but an indicator of deeper imbalance within the body’s natural equilibrium. Addressing sleep concerns therefore requires a holistic approach that focuses on balanced daily routines, known as dinacharya, appropriate dietary habits, mind-calming practices and personalised therapeutic care to help realign the body’s internal rhythms.

The film also reflects Apollo AyurVAID’s broader philosophy of helping individuals achieve and sustain peak health amid the pressures of modern life. Many professionals today experience subtle yet persistent imbalances—such as chronic stress, reduced vitality and poor sleep—which gradually affect both wellbeing and productivity.

The organisation notes that prolonged sleep disturbances, persistent fatigue, morning dullness or difficulty staying asleep should not be ignored, as these symptoms may signal deeper physiological imbalances. Through early recognition and specialist guidance, Apollo AyurVAID aims to support individuals in restoring their natural rhythms and maintaining long-term wellbeing.

To further mark World Sleep Day, Apollo AyurVAID will also host free Ayurveda Sleep Clinics on 13 March across its centres in India. The initiative will offer specialist consultations and personalised guidance for individuals experiencing sleep-related concerns.
