Mumbai: Crunchyroll has partnered with Sony LIV to make its anime streaming service available as an add-on within the Sony LIV platform for ₹99 per month, further expanding access to anime content for audiences across India.
Through the collaboration, Sony LIV subscribers can now subscribe to Crunchyroll directly via the Sony LIV ecosystem, gaining access to more than 900 anime titles and over 160 dubbed shows available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and additional languages. A curated selection of anime titles will also be accessible without a Crunchyroll subscription for a limited period, allowing users to sample popular series before opting for the add-on service.
Crunchyroll has also introduced a limited-time promotional offer on Sony LIV, enabling users to subscribe to the Monthly Fan Tier at ₹49 instead of ₹99. The offer is valid from May 7 to May 21, 2026, with subscribers continuing at the ₹49 price point for the following six months.
Terry Li, Chief Product Officer, Head of Emerging Business, and General Manager of Games at Crunchyroll, said, “India is one of the most exciting and fastest-growing anime markets in the world, and we are thrilled to deepen our presence here through this collaboration with Sony LIV. By bringing Crunchyroll’s unmatched anime library directly into the Sony LIV ecosystem, we’re making it easier than ever for fans, both existing and new, to access the stories and characters they love.”
Nachiket Pantvaidya, Chief Content Officer, Sony Pictures Networks India, said, “Partnering with Crunchyroll allows us to tap into the surging anime fandom in India, marking a pivotal step in our growth strategy. By integrating this premium library, we are expanding our reach to a dynamic new demographic while significantly strengthening our content offering. This collaboration reinforces Sony LIV’s position as a preferred destination for both existing subscribers and a new generation of viewers seeking high-quality global content.”
The partnership comes amid the growing popularity of anime in India, particularly among younger audiences. According to a 2025 study commissioned by Crunchyroll and conducted by the National Research Group, 62% of entertainment consumers surveyed in India said they “love” or “like” Japanese anime, while 74% of teenagers identified themselves as anime fans, making them the most engaged demographic segment.
Crunchyroll said the collaboration is aimed at expanding anime accessibility across generations through Sony LIV, one of India’s leading subscription video-on-demand platforms, which currently offers more than 40,000 hours of content and has crossed 100 million app downloads.
