Trivandrum : DDK Trivandrum is all set to jump in to ratings war by trying its hand on Music Reality show as the public broadcaster is launching its maiden Music reality show today.
It seems Dooradarshan Malayalam is rolling out the new show on an experimental mode. The new Musical reality show is being titled as ”Ringing Rhythms;;, which will see the participation of biggies from the Malayalam music industry.
This is the first time, Dooradarshan Trivandrum is trying hands at a musical reality show. It will be telecast from today (22nd December) at 4.30 PM and 9:30 PM during every Monday to Friday.
There will be 14 Malayalam orchestras who will compete at various levels to clinch the title. The show will be judged by Kaithappram Damodaran Namboothiri, Tej Mervin and Ishan Preeth.
The show will see 14 amateur music bands compete with each other. Meanwhile, Ringing Rhythms will be anchored by play back singers Arun Gopan and Lakshmi Jayan.
Kerala market is already flooded with plenty of Singing and Music reality show and DDK Trivandrum’s move is seen as a very late attempt and it will be difficult to match with the current standards of other reality show running in leading GECs like Asianet and MMTV. However, the DD’s efforts to compete with Program line-up on par with that of leading Satellite GEC is appreciated by Malayalam TV Industry Veterans and a welcome move.
DD Trivandrum was a dominant player in Kerala Market with ratings on par and better than satellite channels like Asianet and Surya TV until 2005. However, the public broadcaster lost out to the satellite channels as it was not able to match with the quality of programs and reality shows.
