New Delhi : The Delhi High Court has continued its earlier trend of postponing the ad-cap case at the convenience of the parties involved without much ado and adjourned the case to July month, thus giving more than three months relief for aggrieved broadcasters.
The News Broadcasters Association (NBA) and many other Regional broadcasters along with Music channels informed the court about the recent developments happening with the new government and highlighted the fact that they are awaiting the response from the government against their joint representation.
The Delhi High Court has adjourned the case to 23rd July 2015 in-order to give some more time for the aggrieved broadcasters and government to represent and decide an amicable solution among themselves.
The Court also restrained TRAI from initiating any proceedings against the parties until further hearing of the case.
The Broadcasters are feeling a sigh of relief as the Information and Broadcasting ministers from the NDA government were reiterating their views against the imposition of ad-cap on Broadcasters. Even the I& B Minister Arun Jaitley also recently expressed his views against the ad-cap on Broadcasters.
The News Channels which are part of NBA and other broadcasters like 9X Media, B4U, TV Vision, Sun TV Networks, E 24, Pioneer Channel, Sarthak Entertainment, Kalaignar TV, Eenadu Television, and Raj TV Networks had added themselves as a part to the case and obtained a stay against TRAI’s proposed 10+2 ad-cap.
However, the Broadcasters like Star India, Zee Group, Viacom 18 and Sony Entertainment are adhering to ad-cap imposed by TRAI.
