Food emerged as a universal favourite way to unwind, with 35+ purchases made every minute in Awfis cafeteria’s pan-India

Mumbai: Awfis has unveiled its latest report, ‘Awfis Unwind: Fun, Food and Retail’ which delves deep into the lives of office-goers, exploring the  interplay of food, fun, and retail. Focussing on employee habits, preferences, and aspirations, the study offers insights into the factors driving satisfaction and productivity in today’s workplaces.

– Food emerged as a universal favourite way to unwind, with 35+ purchases made every minute in Awfis cafeteria’s pan-India.

– 74% of the respondents preferred unwinding indoor in our Awfis spaces however a significant 43% of Gen Z selected outdoor spaces to recharge.

– Making new friends was the primary motivation for participating in events. That explains the 450+ events successfully held by Awfis pan-India.

– Gen X+ form the biggest supporters of retail therapy at Awfis with 72% of them patronising the 700+ popups set up by Awfis across centres.

– In a country where Chai is revered, Coffee surprisingly is the preferred choice at work especially among the Tier 2 respondents (47%)

– Another Sweet Titbit – 242,000 chocolates were consumed last year with 47% of Gen Z favouring it while the Millenials & Gen X+ leaned more towards the healthier option – dry fruits

On the food front there are further insights:

Munchies Madness: The great divide between chocoholics and nut nerds rages on. Will they ever find common ground, perhaps in a chocolate-covered almond?

Fresh Feast Favorites: Sandwiches reign supreme chosen by 48% respondents, probably because they’re socially acceptable to eat with one hand while typing.

Office Fuel: Coffee is the clear winner with a 35% vs 29% vote share to Chai. Surprise, surprise – people like staying awake at work!

Lunch Bunch Chronicles: Office lunch hours are social hotspots. It’s an upgrade from the water cooler chat with banter over sharing home-cooked meals & swapping interesting stories.

Breaking the 9 to 5 Monotony

Unwinding Spots: 1/3rd of respondents believed that the cafeteria is the place to be. Who knew free coffee could be such a draw?

Favourite Events: Festival celebrations are tops, closely followed by food fests. Because nothing says “office party” like combining cultural activities with eating.

Sports Mania: 65% of folks are getting their game on. Indoor tournaments are hot – probably because no one wants to sweat through their work clothes.

Motivation: “Making new friends” is the top reason for joining events. “Free food” was suspiciously absent from the list

Retail

Shopping Habits: 62% have shopped at Awfis. The other 38% are probably still deciding what to buy.

Popular Categories: No surprise here, F&B leads the pack with 48% vote share.

Brand Discovery: 42% are open to trying new brands. The other 58% are stuck in their ways (just kidding, maybe).

Purchase Factors: Price is king, followed by brand and word of mouth. Apparently, we’re all bargain hunters at heart.

Top Brands: WoW Momo, Body Shop, and Tanishq are winning hearts (and wallets).
