Mumbai: Hindustan National Glass & Industries Limited (HNGIL), India’s largest container glass manufacturer, has announced the appointment of Rakesh Mehta as Chief Operating Officer (COO) – North, effective immediately. The appointment comes in the wake of HNGIL’s acquisition by Independent Sugar Corporation Limited (INSCO), part of the Uganda-based Madhvani Group, completed in September 2025.
The leadership move aligns with HNGIL’s post-acquisition strategy to strengthen operational excellence and accelerate growth across northern India. In his new role, Mehta will oversee HNGIL’s northern manufacturing and operational facilities, with a focus on enhancing supply chain efficiency, improving production performance, and expanding market presence to serve clients across pharmaceuticals, liquor, beverages, and food sectors.
Rakesh Mehta brings over two decades of experience spanning finance, commercial operations, contracting, and regional leadership. Prior to joining HNGIL, he served as Finance Head – North at Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited since 2013, and has also held senior roles at Reliance Retail, where he managed large-scale distribution, logistics, and operations across Gurugram and key northern markets.
