This Women’s day, MediaNews4U.Com is acknowledging women leaders of the Media, Marketing, Broadcast and Advertising fraternity who have given more than expected.

In this segment, a veteran in PR and an entrepreneur Tarunjeet Rattan , Managing Partner , Nucleus PR & Misbah Quadri, Founder & CEO, Monofys Media a PR professional turned entrepreneur recently share their experiences as Entrepreneurs and breaking the gender stereotypes and how she continues to inspire many other women who are true leaders in the making.

Journey:

It’s been an interesting ride so far and I can’t wait to see what the next decade brings with it. I have been in the industry for two decades now and seen the evolution of the industry from the pre-orkut times to meta today. Perceptions changing, media and consumer behaviour shifts that could have been daunting for anyone. But this is exactly what I love about my profession. No two days are alike. No two years are alike. No two ‘me’s set apart by an year are alike. It forces, challenges and encourages you to evolve and move with the changes. An exciting life that keeps me inspired every day.

Insptiration & Inspiring the team:

Books. My parents instilled the love of reading in me. A vociferous reader, I read every genre and still have a long TBR (To Be Read ) list. During all these reads, I became fascinated with investigative journalism. Tintin (by Herge) and his travels across the world to a 10 year old had me captivated which led me to pursue mass comm. I had vague inkling on what I wanted to be but was not sure. I went by the process of elimination and tried out all forms of mass communication and communication management. My internship in PR had me hooked on to it. I took to it like duck to water and never looked back.

The excitement and passion I have about my profession passes on to my team. The power that PR brings to the table is known by only a few. I help my team discover the power that lies within the profession and them to ignite their passion and match mine. I am their biggest champion and the supporter on this journey.

Empowerment:

It all starts from you. Your mindset. Your family, your friends, your clients and your associations. Empowerment has to be a given and can only be achieved by making that change in our own circles first. If each one of us looked at making this shift in our circles then there would be no need for us to declare an entire day for a gender that makes up 50% of the population of the human species without whom we cannot exist.

Empower your own circle and support those who do. The real and true change will happen only when we make it happen for ourselves and around us.

Journey:

I often look back at all that has unfurled in my life so far and wonder when am I selling the rights to a film maker? It’s been such an unconventional, unorthodox, uphill yet exhilarating journey. From distributing leaflets door to door, to interning as a solicitor’s assistant, to selling credit card memberships at a post office to founding my own business and so much more in between. I would say I am having the best possible time of my life, being able to do what I love doing the most.

Inspiration & Inspiring the team:

Women like Sucheta Dalal, Razia Sultan, Rani Laxmibai, Sofia Vegara, Charlotte Bronte, Tina Fey, Meryl Streep  – oh so many amazing, boss vibe women out there! The list could go on forever.

It’s a two way street.

I inspire my team and they inspire me.

We are a bunch of go getters, trying to give our best shot in every possible way – we fall, cry, laugh together and then keep going.

I don’t want to share something profound or deep here because there really is no next level decoding. We are just a group of smart, skillful people working together to reach our collective goals.

Empowerment:

We women are built sturdy, made to last. We are excellent leaders, especially during a time of crisis. I have witnessed how women have managed to tackle every aspect of their personal and professional lives, as Covid19 set in..and it was truly remarkable. Women all around me have been the captains of their ships and ensured a smooth transition – be it in the role of a homemaker, or as the founder of a new startup. But this very strength of ours is often used against us. The glorification of our ability to multitask, to take on layer after layer of responsibility needs to stop! It leads to undue severe mental stress, and takes a toll on our entire being. As for the empowerment, I think women are extremely empowered already. The problem lies in how well is the world equipped to handle this empowered section of society.
