Mumbai: EV charging and energy management company Kazam has launched its ‘EV-Ready Ghar’ consumer awareness campaign to encourage safe home charging, as electric vehicle (EV) adoption gains momentum across India. The initiative is backed by findings from a nationwide residential charging study, which showed that only around 55% of Indian homes are currently equipped to support safe EV charging without electrical upgrades.
The campaign follows a study conducted by Kazam in collaboration with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE), based on insights from more than 80,000 residential EV charger installations across the country. The research found that nearly half of Indian households require electrical upgrades or corrective interventions before they can safely support home EV charging.
With nearly 80% of EV charging taking place at home, the findings underscore the growing importance of residential charging infrastructure in supporting India’s transition to electric mobility. The company said addressing home charging readiness will be key to improving consumer confidence and enabling wider EV adoption.
As part of the initiative, Kazam has introduced the EV Home Readiness Quiz, a digital assessment tool that allows consumers to evaluate whether their homes are equipped for safe EV charging. Users who require further assistance can also schedule a professional home charging assessment through trained technicians known as Kazam Rangers.
To broaden consumer engagement, the company has also launched a music-led awareness campaign featuring real EV users. Instead of focusing on electric vehicles alone, the campaign highlights the importance of preparing homes for safe charging and encourages consumers to avoid relying on standard household sockets for prolonged overnight charging.
Kazam has also incorporated the traditional Nimbu Mirchi motif into the campaign, reimagining it as a symbol of an EV-ready home to reinforce the importance of electrical safety and preparedness.

Speaking on the campaign, Vani Vivek, AVP-Marketing, Kazam, said, “Home charging is where the EV experience truly begins, yet it’s often the least understood part of owning an electric vehicle. Through ‘EV-Ready Ghar’, we wanted to make conversations around safe home charging simple, relatable and easy to act on. The campaign combines music with practical tools like the EV Home Readiness Quiz to help consumers understand whether their homes are truly EV-ready and what steps they can take to charge safely. As India moves towards a future of 50 million EVs, building confidence in home charging will be critical to accelerating adoption. Because before India becomes EV-ready, India’s homes must become EV-ready.”
Through the campaign, Kazam aims to equip consumers with practical information and digital tools to assess the readiness of their homes for EV charging, while promoting safer charging practices as India’s electric mobility ecosystem continues to expand.
