Mumbai: Acclaimed Malayalam film Mollywood Times is set to premiere on JioHotstar on July 3, bringing audiences an insider’s view into the ambitions, realities and complexities of the Malayalam film industry.
Written by Ramu Sunil and directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak, the film is produced by Ashiq Usman under the banner of Ashiq Usman Productions.
Positioned as a story that explores the creative and emotional realities of filmmaking, Mollywood Times follows Vineeth Madhavan, an aspiring filmmaker determined to create a debut feature that leaves a lasting mark on Malayalam cinema. His journey unfolds through industry politics, creative challenges, professional setbacks and personal struggles as he navigates the path to achieving his dream.
The film stars Naslen in the lead role and features an ensemble cast including Sharafudheen, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Sangeeth Prathap, Prasanth Alexander, Jagadish, Chandu Salimkumar, and Gopika Ramesh, while Basil Joseph appears in a special role.
Supporting the narrative is cinematography by Viswajith Odukkathil, with editing by Nidhin Raj Arol and Abhinav Sunder Nayak. The music for the film has been composed by Jakes Bejoy.
The streaming release marks another addition to JioHotstar’s regional content lineup and reflects the growing demand for stories rooted in regional cinema and filmmaking culture.
