Kochi: R. Murugan Selvan, popularly known as Karate Murugan, has been appointed as the National Chairman of Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam(SASS). A renowned sports personality, writer, and entrepreneur based in Mumbai, Murugan Selvan was unanimously elected during the National Executive Meeting held yesterday,the June 7th .
Having served as the Working Chairman of the Samajam for the past year, Murugan Selvan brings extensive leadership experience to his new role. He has also represented India at the International Karate Conference of Champions, earning recognition for his contributions to the field of sports.
The appointment follows the decision of former National Chairman S. J. R. Kumar to step down from the position. During a special National Executive Meeting, T. B. Shekhar, Senior Trustee and the present Chairman of the Annadana Committee, proposed Murugan Selvan’s name for the responsibility . The proposal received unanimous support from all members present.
Several distinguished leaders, including RSS senior leader S. Sethumadhavan, V. K. Viswanathan, A. R. Mohanan, National Organising Secretary of the Samajam, Erode Rajan, and other National and State officebearers, congratulated Murugan Selvan and extended their best wishes.
Expressing his gratitude, Murugan Selvan said, “I am honoured by the trust placed in me. I look forward to working together with all members for the multifaceted growth and development of the 18-year-old Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam. I am committed to dedicating my time and efforts to further strengthen the organisation and its service activities.”
