Mumbai: NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has announced the appointment of Gaurav Kochhar as Chief of Business as the company looks to strengthen its leadership team and drive its next phase of growth.
In his new role, Kochhar will lead initiatives focused on enhancing digital payments capabilities and expanding NBSL’s market presence. His responsibilities will include merchant acquisition, business development, and strengthening engagement with banks, fintech companies, and ecosystem partners to expand the reach of NBSL’s products and services.
Kochhar brings more than two decades of experience across banking, fintech, and telecommunications. Prior to joining NBSL, he led the UPI, Digital Payments, and API Banking business at ICICI Bank. Over the course of his career, he has held leadership roles across organisations including HDFC Bank, Vodafone, and Spice Communications, contributing to the growth of digital banking, payments, and partnership-led business models.

The appointment comes at a time when India’s digital payments ecosystem continues to evolve rapidly, driven by growing adoption of UPI, expanding merchant acceptance, and increased collaboration across banks, fintech players, and payment service providers.
