Mumbai: OPPO India has announced a strategic collaboration with Instagram to launch the OPPO LUMO Creator Program, a creator-focused initiative aimed at empowering the next generation of visual storytellers across India.
Positioned at the intersection of OPPO’s imaging technology and Instagram’s content ecosystem, the partnership seeks to support creators with tools, visibility, mentorship, and growth opportunities while strengthening OPPO’s presence in the premium mobile imaging segment.
The initiative comes at a time when India has emerged as one of the world’s largest creator markets, driven by mobile-first content consumption and creation. Through the program, OPPO and Instagram aim to foster a new wave of creators, particularly micro and nano influencers from regional markets, who increasingly rely on smartphones as their primary creative tools.
The collaboration is powered by OPPO’s LUMO Image Engine, which focuses on delivering true-to-life light, depth, and detail in photography and videography. By combining advanced imaging capabilities with Instagram’s content discovery platform, the two companies aim to create an ecosystem that enhances storytelling, engagement, and creator growth.
As part of the partnership, OPPO also announced near-lossless Instagram uploads on its Find X Series smartphones. The feature is designed to ensure that videos maintain their original quality from capture to sharing, preserving details, colour accuracy, clarity, and dynamic range.

Commenting on the initiative, Goldee Patnaik, Head of Communications at OPPO India, said, “At OPPO, our philosophy of ‘Make Your Moment’ is rooted in enabling youth to capture and share their stories in authentic, impactful ways. With Instagram, we are building a program that brings this vision to life, putting the power of storytelling into the hands of millions of young creators across the country. This is not just about showcasing our imaging capabilities, but about enabling a new generation of India to be seen, heard, and discovered, while shaping a culture where creativity and self-expression truly thrive.”

Highlighting the company’s imaging vision, Simon Liu, Global Imaging Director, OPPO, added, “Today’s creators don’t just capture moments, they shape culture. With LUMO Imaging, our goal is to make powerful and effortless imaging experiences accessible to everyone. We have designed our imaging systems to adapt to real-life scenarios – whether it’s shooting in low light, capturing motion, or creating expressive portraits, so creators can focus on their story, not the settings. India’s creator energy is unmatched, and we are proud to build imaging experiences that are truly made for this generation.”
For Instagram, the partnership marks a new approach to collaborating with smartphone brands by jointly enabling creator experiences and content discovery opportunities.
Rishad Chindamada, Vertical Head for Tech, Meta (India), said, “Creator partnerships are no longer just an engagement play—they’re a business driver. The OPPO LUMO Creator Program positions Instagram Reels as the canvas where hardware innovation meets every day storytelling — translating product capabilities into authentic, relatable narratives. By empowering grassroots creators across regional India, we’re delivering both cultural relevance and tangible business impact for brands.”
At the core of the initiative is the OPPO LUMO Creator Program, an always-on platform that will feature monthly themed challenges inspired by youth culture, everyday moments, and stories from across India. Participants will be encouraged to create platform-first content optimised for Instagram, with entries evaluated based on engagement, creativity, originality, and cultural relevance.
Winning creators will receive content amplification opportunities across OPPO and Instagram channels, access to mentorship and learning programs, Meta × OPPO certification, and rewards that include cash prizes, OPPO smartphones, and IoT products.
The program will also offer creators opportunities for international exposure, with top-performing content being featured in global showcases.
To further support creator development, OPPO will launch an expert-led vodcast series featuring industry leaders and creators, including Ankit Rihal, Head of Global Partnership at Meta; Simon Liu, Global Imaging Director at OPPO; Vikram Channa, Vice President, Warner Bros. Discovery Group; celebrity photographer Joseph Radhik; travel creator Tanya Khanijow; and comedian and content creator Kenny Sebastian.
The vodcast, scheduled to premiere on June 5 on OPPO India’s YouTube channel, will explore creator challenges, emerging trends, and practical strategies to help creators grow in an increasingly competitive digital landscape.
With the launch of the OPPO LUMO Creator Program, OPPO and Instagram aim to create a more structured pathway for India’s emerging creators, combining technology, mentorship, and visibility to help them scale their creative journeys.
