Russian media regulator asks Google to stop broadcasting anti-Russian videos
Share Share ShareShare

A few days after blocking access to Facebook and Twitter, Russian regulators on Friday accused US tech giant Google and its video subsidiary YouTube of terrorist activities. This can be the first step towards a possible access ban. The authority also accused YouTube of broadcasting ‘anti-Russian videos’ amidst the ongoing Russia- Ukraine war.

Russia has already blocked access to other global social media giants including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, also several independent media.

Russian media regulator Roskomnadzor said that YouTube users are sharing adverts against the Russian administration. “The YouTube administration’s activities are terrorist in nature and threaten the life and health of Russian citizens,” Roskomnadzor said, quoted by media houses. The regulator also asked the tech giant to stop broadcasting anti-Russian videos as soon as possible.
