Singtel has announced it is to launch a channel for Indian Premier League cricket called Cricket Plus.
Major cricket action from the Indian Premier League (IPL) will now be available to enthusiasts of the sport in Singapore, with Singtel TV bringing live High Definition coverage of all matches via the new channel – Cricket Plus, for the first time in Singapore.
The all-new Cricket Plus service is available for subscription as part of Singtel TV’s Cricket Starter Pack, on Channel 125. Live IPL action from the next three seasons will be broadcast on Cricket Plus.
“Following on from the exciting end-to-end HD broadcast of the ICC Cricket World Cup, we are very pleased to bring our viewers live coverage of the Indian Premier League. Singtel TV’s cricket-loving viewers will enjoy this special treat which will allow them to be a part of the most eagerly-awaited annual tournament on the cricket calendar,” said Anurag Dahiya, Head of Content and Ad Sales.
“The new channel adds to our current cricket channels – TEN Cricket and STAR Cricket, which together cover all of the most prestigious cricket events throughout the year” he added.
The 8th season of IPL tournament consisting of 60 primetime matches will commence today (8 April, 2015). The IPL is one of cricket’s most-watched leagues, with last year’s league garnering more than 170 million television viewers globally. Television and mobile application-based broadcasts are set to take the centre-stage this year with online coverage no longer available in Singapore.
It may be noted that in India, MSM also has launched a new channel Sony Kix to offer this season of IPL in Regional feed such as Tamil & Telugu.
