Trivendrum : This Onam season the Malayalam audience were drenched in a slew of block buster premiers movies as every GEC is scrambling in the race for grabbing the maximum eyeballs. As the channels might is rated with the kind of Premier movies it lines up for the festive occasion and each and every major players in the kerala market were seen rolling out a minimum of 4 or 5 premiers apart from the other Super hit movies during the three peak days of Onam festival.
The top four channels in Kerala market namely Asianet, Surya TV, Amritha TV and Maxhavil Manorama were seen racing against each other with block buster premiers under its kitty and few even went ahead and lined up movies that were released couple of weeks before and are still running in theaters.
Asianet has line up its movies titled as “World Premier Movies” with list of block buster hit Malayalam movies that were aired for the first time in the world television. Asianet has proved it supremacy in market with an unmatchable six movie namely “Drishyam” the Mohanlal starrer movie which was critically acclaimed all over the country for its wonderful storyline, “Ohm Shanthi Ohsana” the movies released in February month was a Nazriya, Nivin Paul, Vineeth Sreenivasan starrer, ” London Bridge” a Prithiviraj and Andrea starrer released in February, “Mannar Mathai Speaking 2” a Comedy thriller by Innocent and team, “Salala Mobiles” a romantic comedy by Dulkar Salaman and Naziriya.
Similarly, Surya TV has scheduled blockbuster premiere films like ‘Police Maaman,’ ‘1983,’ ‘Punyalan Agarbathis and ‘How Old Are You’, a Malayalam super hit film which is still running successfully in theatres, a comeback movie for popular actress Manju Warrier after 14 years.
On its part Amritha TV has scheduled movies like “Good Bad & Ugly” starring Sreejith Vijay, Meghana Raj, Suraj Venjaramood (ii) “Angry Babies In Love” starring Anoop Menon, Bhavana and (iii) “Bicycle Thieves” starring Asif Ali, Aparna Gopinath etc… and Mazhavil Manorama has charted Law Point, Praise the Lord, Bhaiya, Unnaipol Oruvan and English Vinglish.
However, the viewers were made to wait till the last minute confirmation of movie timing as the channels kept telecast time undisclosed. Their Idea is to schedule the movie in a competitive manner to attack the opponent and grab maximum viewership.
It will be interesting to see who dominated this season of Onam and which movie titles attracted greater no of eyeballs.
