Trivandrum: Toonz Media Group has announced that its long-serving Chief Executive Officer, P. Jayakumar, will step down from his role on November 30, 2025, marking the end of a transformative 26-year journey with the company.
During his leadership, the studio evolved from a homegrown animation outfit into a multi-regional entertainment enterprise, establishing operations across India, Ireland, Spain and New Zealand. Over the years, it significantly broadened its slate in kids’ and family content, supplying programming to numerous international platforms and broadcasters.
A transition plan has been in place for several months, with Jayakumar collaborating closely with Viswanath Rao, who is currently serving as Acting CEO, and Karthik V. Kumar, who recently joined the board of Toonz Animation India as Finance Director.
Looking back on his tenure, Jayakumar described his leadership journey as profoundly rewarding, noting that the organisation grew from a small, determined team into a globally recognised creative force. He expressed gratitude to colleagues and partners worldwide who contributed to the company’s rise.
Although stepping away from his executive responsibilities, he said he will remain personally connected to the company and indicated plans to launch a new venture aligned with his enduring passion for global creative collaboration in the entertainment sector.
