Unni Balakrishnan steps down as Chief of News at Mathrubhumi News

Unni Balakrishnan, Chief of News, Mathrubhumi News, has stepped down after a stint of 9 years with the channel.

Unni put down his papers on June 7th, and the resignation was accepted by the company with effect from 9th June.

Unni started his career as a Sub-Editor Malayalam Socio-political Weekly Kalakaumudi in 1994. He joined Asianet Television as Sub-Editor in 1996 and played a pivotal role in establishing the first private satellite channel in Malayalam.

He joined Mathrubhumi News in 2012. Unni is the recipient of the Kerala State Award for the Best Interviewer in 2015.

His next move is unknown
