New Delhi: In anticipation of the India Mobile Congress 2024, leading telecom operator Vi has announced the launch of its inaugural grassroots esports tournament, ‘Vi Game to Fame.’ This initiative aims to unite amateur esports enthusiasts from across India, offering them a platform to compete, collaborate, and showcase their skills on both national and international stages.
As a testament to its commitment to immersive digital experiences, Vi is venturing into the gaming sector with its comprehensive mobile gaming platform, ‘Vi Games.’ Currently, Vi Games features a variety of premium and free online games, including cloud gaming, casual gaming, and esports titles, all accessible via the Vi App.
The tournament kicks off today, featuring ‘Call of Duty: Mobile’ as its first competitive game, with the grand finale scheduled to take place at the India Mobile Congress 2024, Asia’s largest tech fest. Participants will have the chance to win exciting prizes, including a trip to Team Vitality’s facility in Paris and interactions with global esports teams.
Registrations for ‘Vi Game to Fame’ are open from 1st to 5th October 2024 through Vi’s website (myvi.in) and the Vi App. The competition welcomes seasoned, professional, and casual gamers alike, and is open to both Vi and non-Vi subscribers.
The tournament will adopt a hybrid model, where participants will showcase their skills online in a knockout format. The top six teams from the online qualifiers will advance to the finals, competing in a round-robin format at the India Mobile Congress, held from 15th to 18th October 2024. The top two teams from each group will move on to the semi-finals, battling it out in a best-of-five format.
The winning team will have the opportunity to compete in a show match against the current national CODM champions, Team Vitality. The Vi booth at IMC will feature prominent gaming influencers, including Triggered Insaan and Rachitroo, with visitors able to participate in pop-up esports tournaments.
Team Vitality, a leading European esports organization and strategic partner of Vi, brings additional prestige to the tournament. Tournament management is facilitated by Gamerji, a homegrown esports tournament organizer.
