Zee 24 Kalak’s Investigative Journalism Sparks Reforms and Justice in Gujarat
Share Share ShareShare

Mumbai: Zee 24 Kalak, Gujarat’s most credible and fearless news channel, has once again demonstrated the transformative power of journalism. With its unwavering commitment to truth, the channel has exposed deep-rooted issues, held authorities accountable, and ensured justice for the people of Gujarat. Through bold and impactful reporting, Zee 24 Kalak continues to drive systemic changes, making it the voice of the people and a force for social change. Whether it is exposing corruption in the education system or ensuring fair governance, the channel has consistently upheld the highest standards of responsible journalism.

Zee 24 Kalak’s relentless pursuit of truth led to the exposure of a major RTE (Right to Education) admission scam in Surat, where several applicants manipulated income documents to gain illegal admissions, depriving deserving students of their rightful opportunities. The channel’s investigative reporting forced the education department to take swift action—revoking fraudulent admissions, filing police cases, and introducing stricter verification protocols. As a result, the number of applications plummeted from 25,000 last year to 12,000 this year, proving the effectiveness of tighter regulations and deterring misuse of the system.

By championing transparency, Zee 24 Kalak also played a crucial role in safeguarding the rights of underprivileged students and restoring fairness to the admission process. In another impactful report, the channel brought attention to the contentious issue of school timing adjustments during Ramadan in Vadodara. A municipal circular had granted special exemptions to minority students, sparking demands from various groups for equal consideration during Hindu festivals. Zee 24 Kalak’s coverage led to a special review meeting, where authorities revoked all previous circulars, ensuring uniform school policies for all students. This intervention reinforced the principle of equal treatment in educational institutions, highlighting the power of responsible journalism in shaping fair governance.

Expanding its coverage beyond Gujarat, Zee 24 Kalak has played a pivotal role in bringing national attention to the case of Amit Gupta, a Vadodara-based engineer detained in Qatar since January 1, 2025, under unclear circumstances. A former Tech Mahindra executive who rose to the position of Country Head, Gupta has reportedly been held in confinement without any communication with his family. Through relentless coverage and a commitment to impactful journalism, the news channel shed light on the family’s distress, reaffirming its commitment to journalism that drives real impact.

Dixitkumar Jagdishchandra Soni, Editor of ZEE 24 Kalak said, “Fearless journalism is the foundation of an informed society. At Zee 24 Kalak, we take this responsibility seriously—whether it’s exposing corruption, amplifying the voices of the unheard, or demanding action where it’s needed. We remain committed to truth, transparency, and transformation.”

Karan Abhishek Singh, CEO of Zee Media Corporation Limited, further added, “Zee 24 Kalak embodies Zee Media’s core mission—to inform, empower, and drive change. Through fearless investigative journalism, the channel has not only exposed injustices but also set new standards for regional news. Its relentless pursuit of truth continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people across Gujarat.”

With its fearless reporting and deep-rooted commitment to truth, Zee 24 Kalak continues to redefine regional news journalism, ensuring transparency, accountability, and justice for the people of Gujarat.
