The director, Suraj, is known for his action entertainers and the film is produced by S. Nanthagopal. Shot in the beautiful interiors of Chennai, Rowdy Rajkumar stars Vishal and Tamannah in the lead. Combined with brilliant performances and high-power action, the film touches upon the topic of corruption and the urgency to deal with it.
Arjun (Vishal) goes to Chennai to pursue his love for Divya (Tamannaah), a student. While her elder brother Tamizh selvan (Jagapathi Babu) who is the DCP of the city approves of their relationship initially, he later sends local goons to beat up Arjun. But fate has other plans when Arjun savesTamizh selvan from kidnappers and wins his trust. When Arjun finds out that Tamizhselvan has hoarded black money worth 300 crores, he discloses his identity as a CBI Officer. It is later revealed that he lied about his profession to seize all the money.
