For the first-time, I play a young step-mom to a 16 year old daughter and while we are used to the relationship being in films and series, this movie paints a very different picture. With a strong female cast and a female director, audiences across India can look forward to a beautiful story told well, that focuses on the mother-daughter relationship.”

Priya Bapat, while talking about the movie said, “It is very heartening to see that our movie, Aamhi Doghi received such a warm response upon release. Our association with Amazon Prime Video, will bring Aamhi Doghi, to the wider Indian audience. It is a highly relatable human story that I am sure will find takers not just From Marathi speaking audiences, but From other regions as well. It is a moment of pride for us to be associated with Amazon Prime Video that will take our movie to a pan-India audience.”

Aamhi Doghi is a story themed on finding friendship in unexpected situations, and is based on prolific, novelist, short story writer and poet, Gauri Deshpande’s Book Paus Aala Motha. Two women, Savitri played by Priya Bapat and Amala played by Mukta Barve who find each other in the midst of living parallel lives, have woven together a story of understanding. Raised in a household without the presence of her mother and a father who is away most of the time, Savitri Sardesai learns to be practical in her approach towards life; but equations change when her father remarries and brings home Savi’s stepmom Amala.
