Zee Tamil surged from 4% to 24% market share in four years: Siju Prabhakaran

Chennai: ZEEL’s Tamil Entertainment Channel, Zee Tamil is gearing up for the addition of three new fiction shows Sathya, Kandukondein Kandukondein and Piriyadha Varam Vendum and two non-fiction shows Petta Rap and third season of Junior Super Stars as part of its strategy to strengthen its content line-up in prime time and non-prime time across all days.

The move comes at a time when the channel is dominating the core prime time in weekdays between 8:30 to 10 PM. The new additions are aimed at furthering its performance towards leading the neighboring time bands.

Speaking on the launch of the new shows, Siju Prabhakaran, South Cluster Head – Zee Entertainment Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. said, “Over the last 10 years, the strength of Zee Tamil has been in its unique storytelling which encapsulates the ethos, culture and tradition of Tamil Nadu that Tamil audience cherish and hold close to their hearts. The testimonial to our success lies in our strong story-telling that has made our stars members of Tamil households around the world. With the launch of the new shows, we aim to present our viewers with new frontiers of entertainment that will present the channel as the entertainment destination across all age groups.”

The new fiction show Sathya that goes on-air from today (4th March 2019) at 10 PM deals with the story of a daring protagonist, on the other hand Kandukondein Kandukondein has been weaved along the complexities of tradition and astrology. The high value production “Piriyadha Varam Vendum” deals with the tale of love and commitment that transcends time.

Reiterating the achievements of Zee Tamil in recent past, Shiju added that the channel has emerged a leader in three slots in week days prime time that resulted in its market share surging from 4% to 24% during the past four years, making the channel a prominent No. 2 in Tamil GEC space. He is determined to further strengthen his prime time with this content relook and refresh it with addition of new faces.

Over the 10-year journey of Zee Tamil in the General Entertainment Industry, the channel has set a benchmark with its distinct non-fiction shows such as Mr. & Mrs. Khiladies, Junior Superstars, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa & Dance Jodi Dance and novel fiction shows such as Sembaruthi, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Oru Oorla Oru Rajakumari and PoovePoochudava among others.
