South Market sees spiked viewership in the Movies and News Genre

Total TV viewership up by 9% as compared to first half of 2019; Consumption of Social network and gaming higher than Pre-COVID level

As per the BARC Neilsen report for Week 14, 20 the South markets continued to see a spike in viewership in the Movies genre and the News genre

The Telugu market saw, a decline GEC viewership from 55% to 47% in Week 14, the movie genre saw a jump of 3% as compared to Pre COVID. The news genre saw a huge spike in viewership from 7% to 13% in WK 14.

The Kannada market saw a huge decline in GEC from 53% in PRE COVID to 37% in week 14. Here we saw News watching surpassed the Movies genre.

The Tamil market was no different it saw a decline of GEC viewing, both Movies and News saw a spike in viewership. Movies from 15% in Pre COVID to 21% in Wk 14 and in News from 4% to 11% in WK14.

The Malayalam Market also followed the trend by seeing a drop in GEC viewership and increased viewership in Movies and News.

GEC from 61% in pre-COVID to 48% in WK 14 likewise movies grew from 13% to 16% and news from 9% to 19%.
