‘Motivation is found when the purpose is discovered’. This saying fits aptly for BIG FM, one of the largest networks in the country, who are known for adding value through their various purpose-driven initiatives that make a telling difference in the lives of their listeners and other stakeholders. With the current covid-19 pandemic engulfing the nation, BIG FM has now come up with another brave initiative ‘Dilli Ke Dhaakad… Kehte Hai –Let’s Fight Corona Together’. Leveraging the power of the most trustworthy medium, radio, the objective of the four-week-long campaign is to eliminate fear and spread positivity amongst people of Delhi-NCR in order to fight and overcome the on-going pandemic. Although the situation in many countries is extremely critical, India is trying to manage it with the help of our fearless warriors who are on the field and with the support of the public who are adhering to the lockdown guidelines by being home 24X7 to stop community spread and break the chain.

Led by all four Delhi RJs – RJ Khurafati Nitin, RJ Jassi, RJ Yogi, and RJ Simran – the campaign which started on April 6th, explores various crucial aspects of the on-going pandemic, how the daily life is being affected and what preventive measures are required to stop the spread. It also stresses on prevalent topics such as mental health & anxiety, season change and health, family time, efficient use of technology in this hour of need amongst others. Furthermore, the campaign showcases the incredible stories of people from public service sectors like a policeman, doctors, health care professionals, etc. who are tirelessly working on the ground round the clock. With a lot of misinformation being spread at this time that leads to immense panic amongst the people, it also encourages listeners to stop spreading fake news along with appreciating those responsible citizens who are exemplifying the qualities of restraint and resilience by perfectly following the instructions of lockdown. Amplifying the campaign’s reach and purpose to another level, the radio station will be organizing The Biggest Digital Dhaakad Get Together, wherein one RJ will interact with select lucky listeners at home every week with a purpose to entertain and motivate them through Google Meet.

Speaking on the campaign, BIG FM spokesperson said, “In this critical juncture, it’s not only important to provide the listeners with correct information but also give them constant encouragement that eliminates any sort of fear in them. We are glad that we have come up with an initiative like this where our talented RJs from Delhi are coming together with one common vision in their mind. With radio being one of the most-credible mediums available to citizens across the country, we, at a time like this, are helping people deal with the situation in the best manner possible along with diligently performing our responsibilities to entertain them and keep them informed.”

Commenting on the campaign and the situation, RJ Khurafati Nitin said, “I am really glad to be a part of this wonderful initiative that calls for true unity and action in this current predicament that we face that is full of panic and anxiety. This is really tough time for all of us and it is all the more important for us to fight this challenge by being united on one front. I am trying my best to inform and educate my fans about the disease as much as I can through my show. I really urge people to stay home and follow the guidelines and directives issued by the government and health officials so as to stay safe. I am hopeful that with the right and positive attitude we would be able to overcome this global pandemic.”

Speaking on the campaign and the entire situation, RJ Jassi said, “It’s really heartbreaking to see, not just the country but the entire world suffer the effects of this pandemic.  The rising number of cases is alarming. But this is the time where we all need to be together with each other no matter what. I really appreciate BIG FM for coming up with this great initiative which is the need of the hour. Apart from providing correct information, in these testing times, we are trying to instill patience and resilience among our listeners who are looking forward to getting out of this lockdown situation.”

Last year, through the ‘Dilli Ke Dhaakad’ campaign, Big FM reached out and alerted listeners on the issue of women’s safety across the Delhi-NCR region. The campaign was recognized and appreciated for encouraging people to raise their voices for crimes against women and also brought a halt to public drinking in multiple places in the area. Following its resounding success, the campaign looks to keep the momentum going by once again bringing people under one roof with the intent to overcome the existing national crisis at hand.

As a part of the initiative, the radio station is not only striving to address people who are in distress and connecting them with the authorities but also seeking help from mental health experts who can guide them in the right direction. Connecting with people from various walks of life, who are voluntarily coming forward to extend a helping hand, the campaign will be extensively promoted across on-air and digital.
