IPL buzz volume to increase 2X, predicted to reach 60Mn+ in IPL 2020 – Wavemaker Mesh Report

Mumbai: Wavemaker, the global media agency of WPP – GroupM, has analysed the social conversations around IPL 2020 from September 19th – October 24th, 2020.

The study has been done by Wavemaker MESH – the Real Time Data Intelligence solution that reads real time environmental signals. This analysis is based on multiple data points collated to create meaningful and actionable Insights.

IPL buzz volume on track to increase  2X from last year season and predicted 60Mn+ this IPL 2020 compared to last year buzz volume 37Mn.

The report shows that CSK emerged as the driving force behind IPL 2020 of social media popularity with 1000k conversations in social media for MI vs CSK match.

The Mesh Social Media XI is formed on the basis of the composite index score which is evaluated by analysing the social chatter, sentiment and popularity. Coming to the Leading Player Index Leader Board, Virat Kohli Heads the team as Captain followed by Former Indian Skipper M S Dhoni as Vice-Captain.

As per the Average Weekly Social Chatter (Buzz) and TVR Rating for IPL 2020, the following week will see a huge surge and reaching the fatigue phase. According to the report, the first week shows 1.7Mn buzz and drop to 614K in the fifth week. However as per the report, 7th week predicted to see a surge up to 1.4Mn

Based on Wavemaker Brand Index Score (A Comparative ranking algorithm based on Popularity and Engagement metrices), Cricket fantasy league sees a never before engagement in the gamification space. Dream 11 tops the chart followed by Sportskeeda, Mobile Premiere League and others in the gamification space. The report also shows for the Top 5 Fantasy league in Sep 2020, 90+million Web Traffic and 30 million Google searches for the brands.

Additionally the report shows the Top 10 Most loved ads, Dream 11 tops the chart followed by Oppo, Tata Motors and Samsung

This season report has data sources from multiple consumer touchpoints across Digital ecosystem ranging from Social Listening, Google Searches, Website visits, BARC, Video analytics in partnership with VIDOOLY, Interaction data points collected from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
