Former chairman and CEO of the Railway Board Anil Kumar Lahoti is appointed as the next chairperson of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on 29th January. The post of TRAI Chairman was lying vacant since the retirement of PD Vaghela on September 30, 2023. Lahoti will be in charge of the post for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until he attains the age of 65 years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
According to the circular, The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Anil Kumar Lahoti, IRSE (1984) (Retd), Former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, Government of India as Chairman, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until he attains the age of 65 years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
