Mumbai: JioStar has appointed Vijay Arumugam as Director of Distribution – South India, marking a strategic move to strengthen its regional content and distribution network in the southern market. Arumugam brings with him over two decades of experience in the media and entertainment industry, particularly in film distribution and content sales.
Announcing his new role via LinkedIn, Vijay shared, “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Director of Distribution – South India at JioStar! Studios.”
Prior to this appointment, Vijay was Senior Manager, South India – Sales, Distribution for Viacom18 Studios and Paramount Pictures International, where he played a key role in driving the distribution and sales of Indian and international film content. He was associated with Viacom18 for more than 14 years.
His previous professional stints include leadership roles at Sun TV Network Limited, Pyramid Saimira Theatre Chain (Malaysia) SDN BHD, and Hansa Pictures Pvt Ltd, where he built a reputation for driving strategic partnerships, expanding regional reach, and scaling distribution footprints across platforms.
Vijay’s deep expertise spans a range of functions, including sales, pay TV, feature film distribution, content marketing, and content management. His appointment is expected to bolster JioStar’s content distribution strategy in the South Indian market, enabling broader audience engagement and revenue growth.
