Mumbai: Equitas Small Finance Bank has unveiled a poignant new film, “Making Cancer Care Accessible”, in association with Sringeri Sharada Equitas Cancer & Multi-Specialty Hospital—an initiative of the Equitas Healthcare Foundation—coinciding with the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The film portrays the emotional journey of a woman from an underserved community courageously battling breast cancer, shedding light on the critical need for affordable and accessible treatment. It embodies Equitas’ core philosophy of Beyond Banking, reflecting the bank’s commitment to addressing pressing social issues beyond financial services.
Through this initiative, Equitas underscores its dedication to supporting cancer patients and their families with dignity and hope. The hospital accepts government medical schemes such as the Kalaingar Kaappittu Thittam, ensuring that no one is denied treatment due to financial constraints. The campaign also emphasizes the importance of early cancer screening as a potentially life-saving step, encouraging all individuals to prioritize regular health checks.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research–National Cancer Registry Programme, one in nine Indians is at risk of cancer, with breast cancer being the most prevalent among women. Cancer cases are projected to rise by 25–30% by the end of 2025, with late diagnosis and limited financial access among the leading causes of preventable deaths.
Commenting on the campaign, Vignesh Murali, Chief Marketing Officer – Equitas SFB, said, “Our journey has always been about going beyond banking to create real impact. Sringeri Sharada Equitas Hospital stands as a symbol of that vision where affordable cancer care gives people from underprivileged backgrounds not just treatment, but a fighting chance at life. Stories like that of our beneficiary remind us why we exist not just as a bank, but as a force to bring dignity, healing and possibility to every life we touch.”
