New Delhi: The Adani Group has announced a landmark direct investment of USD 100 billion to develop renewable-energy-powered, hyperscale AI-ready data centres by 2035—marking one of the world’s largest integrated energy-compute commitments. The initiative is designed to establish India’s sovereign energy and compute backbone for the AI age and position the country at the forefront of the emerging Intelligence Revolution.
The investment is expected to catalyse an additional USD 150 billion across server manufacturing, advanced electrical infrastructure, sovereign cloud platforms and allied industries by 2035. Together, the programme is projected to create a USD 250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India over the next decade.
Building India’s Energy-Compute Backbone
The roadmap expands on AdaniConneX’s existing 2 GW national data centre platform, with a target of scaling to 5 GW of AI-ready capacity. The expansion is supported by strategic partnerships, including collaborations with Google for a gigawatt-scale AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, with additional campuses planned in Noida, and with Microsoft spanning Hyderabad and Pune.
The Group will also deepen its partnership with Flipkart to develop a second high-performance AI data centre purpose-built for next-generation digital commerce and large-scale AI workloads.
“The world is entering an Intelligence Revolution more profound than any previous Industrial Revolution,” said Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group. “Nations that master the symmetry between energy and compute will shape the next decade. India is uniquely positioned to lead. At Adani, we are building on our foundation in data centres and green energy to expand into the complete five-layer AI stack focused on India’s technological sovereignty. India will not be a mere consumer in the AI age. We will be the creators, the builders and the exporters of intelligence and we are proud to be able to participate in that future.”
The World’s Largest Integrated Data Centre Platform
The proposed 5 GW deployment will combine renewable energy generation, transmission infrastructure and hyperscale AI compute into a unified architecture. Unlike traditional expansions, the programme is structured as a synchronised energy-and-compute ecosystem, ensuring grid resilience, scalable power supply and high-density processing capacity evolve in parallel.
Facilities will be optimised for large AI clusters using advanced liquid cooling systems and high-efficiency power architectures. Dedicated compute capacity will support Indian Large Language Models (LLMs) and national data initiatives, reinforcing long-term data sovereignty.
Leveraging Renewable Advantage
Central to the strategy is Adani Green Energy’s 30 GW Khavda renewable energy project, with over 10 GW already operational. The Group has also committed an additional USD 55 billion toward expanding its renewable portfolio, including large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), ensuring competitively priced, carbon-neutral power for energy-intensive AI workloads.
Strategic cable landing stations across Adani-operated ports will enhance low-latency connectivity with global markets across the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Strengthening Domestic Supply Chains
To mitigate global supply chain volatility, the Group plans co-investments in domestic manufacturing of critical components such as high-capacity transformers, advanced power electronics, grid systems and industrial thermal management solutions—positioning India not only as a data hub but also as a producer and exporter of next-generation compute infrastructure.
Aligned with national priorities including the PM Gati Shakti programme, the Group will embed AI across its logistics, ports and industrial corridors to drive smart, hyper-efficient operations.
Additionally, a portion of GPU capacity will be reserved for Indian AI startups, research institutions and deep-tech innovators to address compute scarcity and foster domestic innovation.
Working alongside leading academic institutions, the Group will launch specialised AI Infrastructure Engineering curricula, applied research labs and a national fellowship programme to build long-term technical capability.
With this commitment, the Adani Group has outlined one of the most ambitious integrated energy and AI infrastructure platforms globally, inviting global technology partners and sovereign institutions to collaborate in building India’s next-generation intelligence backbone.
