Mumbai: WPP Media has appointed Tina Chen as Chief Executive Officer of WPP Media China, effective March 30, 2026. She succeeds Rupert McPetrie, who will remain with the organisation until June 30, 2026 to ensure a smooth leadership transition before moving on to other opportunities within the WPP network.
Prior to joining WPP Media China, Tina Chen served as Senior Vice President for the China Region at Shiseido, where she spent the past five years leading digital transformation and strategic growth initiatives. She initially joined the company as Chief Digital Officer, spearheading end-to-end digital transformation efforts centred on consumer-centric and data-driven strategies.
In that role, she oversaw a wide range of functions including consumer and market insights, digital media and marketing, corporate e-commerce, social commerce incubation, analytics and data platforms, as well as digital technology and AI innovation initiatives. Her responsibilities later expanded when she was appointed Chief Digital and Strategy Officer, where she also led the company’s regional growth strategy and transformation roadmap.
Chen brings extensive expertise across corporate strategy, innovation, consumer insights, data and analytics, media and marketing, and digital commerce, along with deep sector experience across beauty and luxury, retail, FMCG, and financial services.
Meanwhile, the company acknowledged the contributions of outgoing CEO Rupert McPetrie, who has led WPP Media China for the past two years and has spent more than a decade contributing to the growth of WPP’s media operations across China and the Asia-Pacific region.
McPetrie will remain with the company through the end of June to facilitate a seamless leadership transition before pursuing new opportunities within the broader WPP network.
