Mumbai: Sony SAB has announced the launch of Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan, a new fiction series exploring themes of resilience, identity, and second chances. The show, which is the Indian adaptation of the internationally acclaimed Italian drama DOC – Nelle Tue Mani, will premiere on April 6 and air Monday to Saturday at 8 PM.
Headlined by Iqbal Khan, Gulki Joshi, and Srishti Singh, the series is set against a medical backdrop and follows the emotional journey of Dr. Dev Mehta, a skilled doctor whose life changes dramatically after an accident wipes out eight years of his memory. Forced to rebuild both his personal and professional life, the narrative delves into themes of rediscovery, fractured relationships, and renewed purpose.
Gulki Joshi plays Srishti, Dev’s former spouse and a hospital administrator, while Srishti Singh portrays Vaani, a young doctor who becomes a key ally in Dev’s journey. The evolving dynamics between the characters form the emotional core of the series.
Produced by SOBO Films, the show is part of a globally successful format that has been adapted across multiple countries. The Indian version has been reimagined to resonate with local audiences, with a stronger focus on family relationships and emotional storytelling.
Commenting on the launch, Ajay Bhalwankar, Chief Content Officer, Sony SAB, said, “At Sony SAB, we believe television has the power to inspire, heal, and bring families closer together. With Yaadein, we are not just introducing another show — we are presenting a story that challenges how we see ourselves and the choices we make when life offers us a second chance. The show has widely resonated with audiences globally and has been successfully adapted across five countries. We are excited to bring this proven international narrative to Indian viewers with a deeply rooted emotional lens and are confident that Dr. Dev Mehta’s journey will spark conversations, touch hearts, and reaffirm Sony SAB’s commitment to meaningful storytelling.”
Smruti Shinde, Producer & Founder of SOBO Films, added, “For us at SOBO Films, Yaadein is not just an adaptation — it is a heartfelt retelling crafted for Indian audiences. The story of Dr. Dev Mehta is about resilience, rediscovery, and the courage to embrace life’s second chances, themes that are universally human yet deeply personal. Partnering with Sony SAB has allowed us to bring this vision to life with scale and sensitivity, ensuring that while the show carries the legacy of DOC, it also reflects the emotional fabric of Indian families.”
Sharing his experience, Iqbal Khan, who plays Dr. Dev Mehta, said, “As actors, we often look for roles that challenge us, but Dr. Dev Mehta is more than just a challenge — he is a mirror to the human spirit. Losing eight years of memory and being forced to rebuild his life is not only a medical story, it is a deeply emotional journey about identity, love, and second chances. Playing Dev has allowed me to explore vulnerability and resilience in equal measure, and I believe audiences will see parts of themselves in his struggles and triumphs. Yaadein is a reminder that even when life takes everything away, it also gives us the courage to begin again.”
With Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan, Sony SAB continues to expand its programming slate with globally inspired formats adapted for Indian audiences, reinforcing its focus on emotionally engaging and meaningful storytelling.
