Mumbai: COLORS has announced the launch of Juhi Mui, a new fiction series centred on autism, individuality and social acceptance. The show brings to the forefront the journey of a young autistic woman navigating a world that often misunderstands difference while celebrating her unique strengths and perspective.
Positioned as a story of inclusion and empathy, Juhi Mui follows Juhi Suri, a gifted young woman with exceptional memory and a sharp legal mind. While her abilities distinguish her, she frequently faces judgement and societal expectations around what is considered “normal.”
Set against the backdrop of law chambers, Juhi is raised by her father Rajendra Suri, a respected lawyer who remains protective of her, while her brother Karan admires her brilliance. Having grown up immersed in the world of legal practice, Juhi develops an instinctive understanding of the law, remembering sections precisely and identifying details that others often overlook.
Her journey takes a new turn through her relationship with Inspector Sanyam Singh, a practical and empathetic police officer who becomes an unexpected support system. Through this narrative, Juhi Mui raises a larger question — should individuals constantly adapt to existing systems, or is it time for systems to become more inclusive?
The show stars Eisha Singh in the lead role alongside Sanjay Suri as Rajendra Suri, Sai Deodhar as Suchitra Suri, Ayub Khan as Uttam Suri, Krushag Ghuge as Karan Suri, and Vijayendra Kumeria as Inspector Sanyam Singh.
Speaking about stepping into Juhi’s world, Eisha Singh says, “Embodying Juhi has been one of the most challenging and deeply fulfilling experiences of my career and a role that will always hold a special place in my heart. Portraying a girl who communicates differently required me to reinvent my approach – relying on subtle expressions, physical nuances, and silence to reveal her rich inner world. I felt a deep responsibility in bringing this remarkable autistic girl to life with honesty and empathy. More than anything, I want audiences to look beyond labels and see an exceptionally intelligent young woman who experiences love, joy, and sorrow like everyone else. This story is ultimately about inclusion, dignity, and recognizing the power autistic individuals have to enrich and transform society.”
Reflecting on his role, Vijayendra Kumeria says, “Juhi Mui marks my first time wearing a police uniform on screen and stepping away from polished suits and conventional heroism. Inspector Sanyam Singh is unapologetically desi, emotionally transparent, and completely out of place in the image-conscious world around him. What I love most about him is his belief that systems don’t become compassionate on their own, it takes individuals to make them so. Through Sanyam, the show reminds us that empathy isn’t about polished words or progressive jargon; it’s about showing up, standing by people, and refusing to look away from injustice. I hope audiences see Juhi Mui not just as a legal thriller, but as a story that challenges our ideas of strength, justice, and inclusion and inspires us to build a kinder, more compassionate world.”
With Juhi Mui, COLORS aims to bring conversations around neurodiversity into mainstream storytelling, positioning the series as both an emotional drama and a reflection on empathy, acceptance and societal change.
The show premieres on June 29 and will air Monday to Friday at 9:30 PM on COLORS and JioHotstar.
