Kochi: Zee Keralam has announced the launch of its upcoming fiction show Valyettan, positioned as Kerala television’s first-ever brother–sister emotional saga. The show is set to premiere on April 20 as part of the channel’s refreshed prime-time line-up.
Set against the backdrop of Kerala’s joint-family ethos, Valyettan narrates a deeply emotional story centered on the bond between an elder brother and his four sisters. The series explores themes of unconditional love, sacrifice, and responsibility, with the protagonist emerging as both protector and emotional anchor of the family.
The narrative revolves around Valyettan, whose life is devoted to the well-being of his sisters, often at the cost of his own aspirations. Adding emotional depth to the storyline is Dr. Parvathy, a compassionate and strong-willed doctor who shares a long-standing bond with him. Beneath his sense of duty lies an unspoken love for her, introducing a subtle romantic layer to the family drama.
Each of the four sisters navigates distinct personal and social challenges, ranging from ambitions and relationships to societal expectations. Through these journeys, the elder brother remains a constant pillar of support, even as he deals with his own internal conflicts within a complex joint-family setup.
By placing the brother–sister relationship at the core of its storytelling, Valyettan explores a relatively underrepresented narrative in Malayalam television, offering a fresh perspective within the family drama genre.
The ensemble cast includes Jayakrishnan as Valyettan, Veena as Dr. Parvathy, Ranjitha Mukundan as Ratna, Honey as Reshmi, Aleena Sajan, and Vaiga as Kunji Renjini.
The show will air daily at 7:30 PM from April 20 on Zee Keralam. As part of the revised programming schedule, Kudumbashree Sharada will move to 7:00 PM, while Akale will shift to 6:30 PM.
