Mumbai: Balaji Prakash has stepped down from EID Parry India as Chief Operating Officer & Business Head – Consumer Products Group, marking the end of a nearly nine-year tenure with the company.
Prakash announced his departure via LinkedIn, reflecting on his journey and key milestones during his stint. He stated, “After almost 9 years ( 8.5 to be exact), I have decided to move on from my role at Parry. While these 9 years have been exhilarating and challenging ; surprisingly the number 9 seems to be significant in this stint of mine. I joined Parry in the 9th month of 2017, built a team of 9 new recruits in sales and marketing in that year which was further scaled up to a team of 180+ front line field team for GT and 90+team for MT ; built a portfolio of 9 brand ( White Label, Parrys Pure, Parrys Amrit, Parrys Sweetcare , Parrys Jaggary, Parrys Superfine, Parrys Gold, Parrys Millets and Rice, Parrys Dhals), reaching a weighted distribution of 63% and built a business of 900 crs in 2024-25. All this was possible under the able foresight of Suresh Srinivasan and further ignited by Mr. Muthu Murugappan. As the organization prepares to fire on all cylinders in the consumer business with a hyper thrust on brand building and distribution, I pass on the baton to my team of 5 able members ( Subramanian V., Shyamaladevi Natarajan, Nichelle Kamat, Panneer Solai Solaichamy, and Dinesh Kumar to carry this legacy forward and help Parry become one of the most admired consumer business.”
During his tenure, Prakash played a pivotal role in scaling the company’s consumer products business, building a robust portfolio of brands and expanding distribution reach across general trade (GT) and modern trade (MT) channels. His leadership contributed to the development of a strong frontline sales force and the expansion of the company’s presence in India’s competitive FMCG landscape.
Prior to joining EID Parry India, Prakash held leadership roles across several prominent organisations including Tata Teleservices Ltd, CavinKare Pvt Ltd, TTK Healthcare Ltd, Lotte India Corporation, Ford Motor Company, and Castrol India Limited. He brings extensive expertise in business strategy, P&L management, FMCG sales and distribution, brand marketing, innovation pipeline development, and scaling high-growth businesses.
His departure comes at a time when EID Parry India is sharpening its focus on strengthening its consumer business through enhanced brand-building and distribution-led growth strategies.
