Gandhinagara: Dr. Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (Amul), has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of Sardar Patel Co-operative Dairy Federation Limited (SPCDF) at the election of office bearers held at AmulFed Dairy, Gandhinagar. His name was proposed by Ashok Chaudhary, Chairman GCMMF, and seconded by Shabesinh Parmar, Chairman Amul Dairy.
Sangram Chaudhary, representing Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited, has been elected as the Vice Chairman of SPCDF.
The election results were formally declared by Shri Ravindra D. Khatale, IAS, Collector Gandhinagar, who served as the Returning Officer appointed by the Cooperative Election Authority, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India. As per Clause 39 of the byelaws of SPCDF, both office bearers shall hold office with effect from May 5, 2026 for the five-year term of the Board of Directors.
The Board of SPCDF comprises one representative each of GCMMF and 10 Member Unions of GCMMF, along with three representatives of cooperative milk societies from Assam, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.
SPCDF was launched by Union Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, on July 6, 2025, with the objective of strengthening the cooperative dairy movement across the country. The launch coincided with the celebration of the fourth year of formation of the new Ministry of Cooperation, the International Year of Cooperation, and the 150th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — who had inspired the formation of Amul Dairy in the 1940s.
SPCDF aims to connect more than 20 lakh dairy farmers from over 20,000 villages across 20 states to an organised cooperative structure beyond Gujarat’s borders — ensuring fair milk pricing, equitable voting rights, access to modern services, and the benefits of a democratically governed cooperative system. Supported by GCMMF’s strong management and marketing expertise along with the operational strength of milk unions, SPCDF will help strengthen a national cooperative dairy network from village cooperative societies to consumers across India.
This initiative is aligned with the “Sahkar se Samriddhi” vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah’s initiative of “White Revolution 2.0” — aimed at empowering dairy farmers, expanding the cooperative movement, increasing value addition, and accelerating rural prosperity through farmer-centric growth.
The newly elected office bearers expressed gratitude to Amit Shah, the Ministry of Cooperation, the Government of India, the Government of Gujarat, and the board members of GCMMF and SPCDF for reposing their faith in them. They reaffirmed their commitment towards the empowerment of milk producer members across the country.
