Mumbai: NDTV has appointed Ramarko Sengupta as AI Editor as the network accelerates its efforts to build a future-ready newsroom powered by artificial intelligence and intelligent storytelling systems.
With over two decades of experience spanning digital, television, print, and wire journalism, Ramarko brings deep expertise across business, technology, startups, and policy reporting — areas increasingly shaping the future of news production and consumption.
In his most recent role as Associate Editor at The Economic Times’ B2B verticals, he led editorial initiatives around AI, Global Capability Centres, and startups, contributing to conversations around India’s evolving economic and technology landscape. Prior to that, he worked at YourStory, where he led editorial and brand solutions content while hosting conversations with founders, innovators, and business leaders.
His earlier stints include leadership roles at The Times of India Online, FactorDaily, and NDTV Convergence, where he played a key role in business news coverage and reporting on global events such as the World Economic Forum. Over the course of his career, Ramarko has also covered landmark developments including Coal India’s record IPO, Union Budgets, elections, and major policy announcements.
At NDTV, he will focus on integrating AI into editorial workflows and storytelling formats, with an emphasis on how stories are discovered, verified, produced, and distributed in an AI-driven media environment.

Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, NDTV, said on the appointment, “We are entering a phase where the advantage will not come from access alone, but from how intelligently information is processed and presented. AI is beginning to influence every layer of journalism – from discovery to distribution. Ramarko combines strong editorial instincts with a deep engagement with new media and emerging technologies. He will help us build a newsroom that is faster, sharper, and more responsive, while remaining anchored in our DNA of trust.”
On his new role, Ramarko Sengupta said, “The conversation around AI in journalism often focuses on efficiency. For me, the real opportunity lies in enhancing depth, clarity, and relevance. At a time when content is abundant, what will stand out is thoughtful, credible storytelling. NDTV has always stood for that. I look forward to building systems and frameworks where AI strengthens editorial judgment and helps us tell better stories.”
