Mumbai: JioStar has announced that ESPNcricinfo will be rebranded as Cricinfo, marking a significant milestone in the platform’s evolution and aligning with the operational transition following the merger agreement between Reliance Industries Limited and The Walt Disney Company in India announced in November 2024.
The move brings the world’s leading cricket website back to its original identity established in 1993, reaffirming its longstanding legacy in global cricket journalism and fan engagement.
The rebranding signals a renewed focus on preserving Cricinfo’s editorial heritage while positioning the platform for future innovation. JioStar said Cricinfo will continue serving as one of the most trusted and deeply engaged cricket destinations globally and play a distinctive role in enhancing audiences’ experience of JioStar’s cricket ecosystem.
Over more than three decades, Cricinfo has evolved into one of the sport’s most comprehensive and authoritative digital archives, becoming a preferred destination for cricket fans across markets.

Commenting on the development, Sambit Bal, Editor-in-Chief, Cricinfo, said, “We will continue building Cricinfo as a definitive destination for the most passionate cricket fans globally and it will remain true to its founding principles of serving cricket fans everywhere. The next phase of evolution will include AI-powered innovations to enhance our story-telling, which, as ever, will stay rooted in originality.”
As part of the transition, Cricinfo will now operate through cricinfo.com and will appear as “Cricinfo” across mobile applications available on the App Store and Google Play.
Users accessing the platform through existing espncricinfo.com links, bookmarks, or legacy URLs will continue to be redirected seamlessly, ensuring uninterrupted access to content and services.
The rebrand reflects JioStar’s broader effort to consolidate and strengthen its sports content portfolio while preserving the identity and credibility that Cricinfo has built among cricket audiences worldwide
