Mumbai: Bodhi Tree Multimedia Ltd., a content and digital entertainment company, has secured a strategic mandate from the Government of Assam to develop, launch and manage the state’s official digital content platform, marking a significant step in the company’s transition from content production into technology-enabled media infrastructure and platform-led services.
The mandate places Bodhi Tree Multimedia at the intersection of digital public infrastructure, regional content ecosystems and government-led cultural digitisation initiatives, as public institutions increasingly adopt technology-driven models to preserve, promote and distribute cultural assets.
Under the mandate, the company will build and operate Assam’s dedicated digital platform for regional entertainment and cultural engagement. The platform will feature regional entertainment, heritage programming, live events, films, music and creator-led storytelling, with accessibility across mobile, web and connected television ecosystems.
The initiative is expected to improve the discoverability and accessibility of Assamese content for audiences across India and international markets while supporting broader cultural outreach objectives.
For Bodhi Tree Multimedia, the project represents a strategic diversification beyond traditional commissioned content businesses into platform ownership, lifecycle management and recurring technology-led service revenues. The company will oversee platform development, content strategy, monetisation architecture, subscription management and long-term operations.
The development also strengthens Bodhi Tree’s expanding capabilities across content creation, technology deployment and digital distribution — areas increasingly shaping the future of the media and entertainment landscape.
Industry observers view the initiative as a potential blueprint for future government-backed cultural digitisation projects, creating opportunities for similar deployments as regional administrations increase investments in digital engagement and cultural infrastructure.
With a content portfolio spanning more than 5,000 hours across over 100 shows, Bodhi Tree brings extensive production experience to the initiative. The platform will be supported through a technology stack developed in partnership with Mogi OTT and powered by Google Cloud infrastructure, alongside a dedicated content delivery network and Kubernetes-based auto-scaling capabilities to support user growth and performance.

Commenting on the development, Mautik Tolia, Managing Director and CEO, Bodhi Tree Multimedia Ltd., said, “This mandate reflects the expanding role of media companies in building digital ecosystems, not just creating content. We believe the future of the sector lies at the intersection of storytelling, technology and distribution infrastructure. Assam’s vision to create a dedicated digital destination for its cultural and creative economy aligns strongly with this opportunity. For Bodhi Tree, the project adds a new dimension to our business model through long-term platform management capabilities while creating a scalable framework that could find relevance across multiple regions in the years ahead.”
According to the company, the project has already entered an advanced execution phase, with core technology architecture substantially completed and current efforts focused on branding, content onboarding and ecosystem development.
As India’s regional content economy continues to expand and governments increasingly adopt digital-first engagement strategies, Bodhi Tree Multimedia believes the mandate positions the company within an emerging category of media opportunities combining cultural assets, technology infrastructure and recurring platform revenues.
The initiative aligns with the company’s broader long-term vision of building an integrated media enterprise spanning content creation, platform management, audience engagement and digital distribution.
