Mumbai: In a move aimed at strengthening India’s analogue filmmaking infrastructure, Prasad Corp and Monsoon Colour Lab have announced a strategic partnership to build an integrated end-to-end film production ecosystem for creators working with film formats.
Monsoon Colour Lab, which is reviving the 85-year legacy of Film Lab India, will collaborate with Prasad Corp to provide a unified workflow spanning film processing, native 4K scanning, restoration, colour grading and post-production services for productions shot on 35mm, 16mm and Super8 film formats.
The partnership comes at a time when analogue filmmaking is witnessing renewed global interest, with creators increasingly returning to film for its distinctive visual character and cinematic quality. Through this collaboration, both companies aim to make film-based production more accessible and commercially viable for filmmakers across India and South Asia.
The combined offering is designed to support productions from camera negative to final delivery while reducing dependence on international processing and post-production facilities. The companies believe local infrastructure can improve turnaround times and operational efficiencies for filmmakers choosing to shoot on film.
As part of the collaboration, Prasad Corp will deploy its Scanity HDR native 4K film scanner, capable of scanning camera negatives at speeds of up to 15 frames per second while preserving the visual qualities unique to film. The technology enables high-quality 4K digital rushes through an efficient dailies workflow and also allows lower-resolution viewing copies to be generated for production teams.
The companies said the infrastructure is intended to bridge traditional film practices with contemporary digital post-production requirements.
The collaboration has already supported several productions over recent months, including three feature films — one shot on 35mm and two on 16mm — along with short films, advertisements and music videos, signalling rising demand for analogue production workflows.
Speaking about the partnership, Abhishek Prasad, Director & CTO, Prasad Corp, said, “Film continues to offer a unique creative experience that many filmmakers value deeply. Through this partnership, Prasad Corp is ensuring that creators in India have access to world-class film processing, scanning and post-production infrastructure locally. Together, we are helping preserve the legacy of film while enabling its future for a new generation of storytellers.”
Karan Talwar, Founder, Monsoon Colour Lab, added, “This collaboration creates a complete ecosystem for creators looking to work on film. By combining Monsoon Colour Lab’s processing expertise with Prasad Corp’s advanced scanning and post-production capabilities, we are making analogue production more practical, accessible and reliable for filmmakers in India.”
