Mumbai: JioHotstar and Asianet have released the teaser for Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8, offering viewers a first glimpse of the upcoming edition of the reality show hosted by actor Mohanlal.
The teaser comes after months of anticipation surrounding the new season, with audiences awaiting details of the contestants and the format. The latest promo signals a thematic shift, with the upcoming season expected to revolve around power, strategy and the influence of public voting.
The newly unveiled logo incorporates the Greek word for “Democracy,” while the tagline, “Bigg Boss: Coming to Power Soon,” suggests an increased emphasis on the power of votes, people’s authority and evolving rules within the game.
Shot on a grand cinematic scale, the teaser opens with Mohanlal driving to an old, abandoned library before walking through rows of ancient books and picking up Chanakya’s Arthashastra. He then delivers a powerful narration:
“The happiness of the people is the happiness of the king. Their welfare is the king’s welfare. A king must prioritize the interests of his people over his own. But I’m not the king… I’m the kingmaker.”
The teaser indicates that the eighth season will feature contestants engaging in strategic gameplay, alliances and intense mind games, with a stronger focus on intelligence and decision-making than previous editions.
With its new visual identity and power-centric narrative, Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8 is positioning itself as a fresh chapter in one of Malayalam television’s most-watched reality franchises. The makers have yet to announce the contestant lineup or premiere date.
