Mumbai: Adani Navbharat Developers Private Limited (ANDPL), the special purpose vehicle (SPV) spearheading the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP), has launched ‘Dharavi Didi’, an artificial intelligence-powered interactive companion aimed at providing nearly one million Dharavi residents with verified project-related information.
The AI platform has been introduced to address the growing challenge of misinformation surrounding one of Asia’s largest urban redevelopment projects by offering residents direct access to official information on surveys, eligibility, documentation, rehabilitation processes and project updates.
Available round the clock through video calls, voice calls and WhatsApp, Dharavi Didi currently supports Hindi, Marathi and English, with Tamil, Telugu and Gujarati expected to be added in future phases.
The platform has been developed in partnership with YAAP Digital, while Weya AI serves as the technology partner. According to the company, the solution combines conversational AI, multilingual support and voice-enabled accessibility to deliver accurate and consistent responses through official information frameworks.
YAAP Digital designed the resident engagement ecosystem and user experience, while Weya AI developed the conversational intelligence underpinning multilingual interactions and voice-first accessibility.

Ajay Kakar, Head – Corporate Branding, Adani Group, said, “In an age of information overload and misinformation, particularly on matters as personal and important as one’s home and future, trusted communication is more critical than ever. Dharavi Didi demonstrates how technology can be deployed not merely as an information tool, but as a bridge between institutions and communities. By combining AI with empathy and accessibility, we are creating a communication platform that empowers Dharavikars with verified information while making engagement more inclusive, responsive and human-centric. At its core, branding is about building trust, and trust is built through transparency, consistency and meaningful engagement – the fundamentals that have shaped Dharavi Didi.”
An ANDPL spokesperson, said, “Dharavi Didi reflects our commitment to ensuring that every Dharavikar has easy access to verified information directly from official sources. Our teams engage extensively with residents on the ground every day and Dharavi Didi extends that support beyond physical interactions. Whether someone has a question late at night or needs information in their preferred language, trusted answers are now available in an instant.”
The launch underscores the increasing use of artificial intelligence in citizen engagement and public communication. While AI has largely been adopted across customer service and commercial applications, the company said Dharavi Didi demonstrates how the technology can also support large-scale social initiatives by improving access to reliable information during complex redevelopment processes.
According to ANDPL, the AI companion has been designed as a human-centric engagement platform that simplifies access to verified information while strengthening communication and transparency between residents and project authorities.
The company said the platform will continue to be enhanced with additional languages, capabilities and information services as the Dharavi Redevelopment Project progresses.
