Channel 5 reality show Celebrity Big Brother has ousted housemate Ken Morley after he made “offensive” comments spurring 233 complaints to broadcast watchdog Ofcom.
The Coronation Street star was accused of racism and sexism during his appearance on the show despite Big Brother’s bosses requesting he curtail his language.
On his removal from the show, a statement read: “Ken Morley has been removed from the Celebrity Big Brother house for using unacceptable and offensive language following his formal warning.
“Tuesday’s eviction is now cancelled and lines are now closed. Anyone who has already voted will be able to apply for a full refund and details will be available on the Big Brother website within 24 hours.”
An Ofcom spokesman told The Drum: “Ofcom received 233 complaints about comments made by Ken Morley in Celebrity Big Brother on 11 January.”
The watchdog said it will assess the nature of the complaints before deciding whether to conduct an investigation into Morley’s comments.
Morley’s son Roger apologised for his father’s behaviour on Saturday.
This comes after Jeremy Jackson of Baywatch was kicked off the show for pulling open the dressing gown of housemate Chloe Goodman.
