Mumbai: Akkio, an AI infrastructure company powering agentic workflows across media organizations, has announced the appointment of Christian Juhl, former Global CEO of GroupM, to its Board of Directors. The move comes as the company expands the adoption of its AI-driven platform among leading media companies and accelerates the deployment of agentic AI workflows across the media ecosystem.
Juhl brings decades of leadership experience spanning media, technology, data-driven marketing, and agency transformation. His appointment marks a strategic milestone for Akkio as it continues to strengthen its position within the rapidly evolving AI and media technology landscape.
The announcement follows growing adoption of Akkio’s platform, which operates on-premises within media cloud environments, by major industry players including Horizon Media and LG Ad Solutions. The company is positioning itself as a foundational AI infrastructure provider designed to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency across media organizations.

Commenting on the appointment, Jon Reilly, CEO, Akkio, said, “Christian has built some of the most important infrastructure in modern media and innately understands this ecosystem. He brings that depth of knowledge and relationships to help Akkio build toward something bigger: an operating system that works for the entire industry.”
Juhl served as Global CEO of GroupM between 2019 and 2024, overseeing the company’s 35,000-person global workforce and managing more than $60 billion in annual media investments. During his tenure, GroupM recorded $1 billion in annual net sales growth, achieved 25% cumulative growth, and secured several high-profile client partnerships, including The Coca-Cola Company.
Prior to leading GroupM, Juhl was Global CEO of Essence, the data-driven media agency acquired by WPP in 2015. Under his leadership, Essence expanded its billings more than fivefold and earned recognition as Adweek’s Breakthrough Media Agency of the Year. His career also includes a 14-year stint at Razorfish and leadership roles within Publicis.
Sharing his thoughts on joining Akkio’s board, Christian Juhl said, “I’ve spent my career watching the industry wrestle with fragmented data, disconnected systems, and tools that were built for individual agencies rather than the ecosystem as a whole. Akkio is building something different, an infrastructure that works for everyone. I’m excited to bring what I’ve learned to the board and help guide that vision forward.”
As media companies increasingly embrace AI-powered automation and workflow optimization, Akkio aims to position itself as a key infrastructure partner enabling scalable and secure deployment of agentic AI solutions across the industry.
