Bengaluru : Golden Star Ganesh who started off as an anchor for TV show “Comedy Time” and rose to stardom in Kannda films, is returning back to the small screen with the show “Super Minute” to be commenced on ETV Kannada on 30th August Onwards. With this, the actor, who has carved a niche for himself on silver screen as well, hopes to make his way back into the hearts of millions of his fans. With this the Kannada GEC market heads to a touch competition in Weekend with Bigboss 2 on Suvarna and Weekend with Ramesh on Zee Kannada already on air.
The show is an adaptation of the internationally acclaimed Minute to Win It, The show will be aired on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) 9 PM and this season was planned for 32 episodes. In the ‘Super Minute’ inaugural episode ‘Fair and Lovely’ Kannada film pair Premkumar and Shwetha Srivatsa have taken the first tasks.
While Ganesh talking on why he took up a show like Super Minute at a time when he is a huge success on silver screen, and he responds, “I wouldn’t have accepted this offer if I had got it four or five years ago. At that time, small screen did not enjoy much popularity. Today, there is no difference between small screen and big screen as far as entertainment is concerned. B-Town stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan have always given importance to entertainment be it through movies or TV shows. Likewise, we are also trying to connect with the audience.”
He adds that for a lot of people, movies are becoming an option today – whether they want to watch them or not depends on the kind of films being released. But it is different in the case of a TV show.
“If somebody at home starts watching a particular show, he is soon joined by the rest,” says Ganesh, adding, “Since, I am coming back to this medium after a long time, I hope it creates a bigger curiosity and gets people thinking, ‘what is Ganesh upto on the small screen this time?’”
He believes Super Minute is a good franchise across 46 countries and enjoys popularity across the world. And he is sure the audience will enjoy the show too. He says, “It is a challenge to perform one minute games that are not just entertaining but hold a certain level of difficulty as well. And with me around, I am sure the audience will also have some good fun.”
The show is getting launched despite a prevailing confusion in the Kannda film industry as the Kannada Film Producers are up against the Film Stars appearing in TV shows as they accuse that the star studded shows are eating away their weekend collections due to drop in footfall in theatres.
The actor, who is known for his signature line ‘Namaskara, Namaskara, Namaskara’ on Comedy Show, is now planning to revive it on Super Minute. “My show will not be complete without ‘Namaskara,” he laughs
