Mumbai: Audible, an Amazon company and a leading creator of premium audio storytelling, has announced its association with Champak, one of India’s longest-running and most loved children’s magazines, to bring its iconic stories to life as English audiobooks, exclusively on Audible. The collaboration reinforces Audible’s focus on expanding access to India’s most cherished stories through immersive audio formats.
As part of the partnership, Audible has licensed 100 of Champak’s bestselling stories, adapting them into short, engaging audio episodes of seven to ten minutes each, tailored for young listeners and families. Currently, 46 English-language titles are available on the platform, with the complete collection set to roll out over the course of the year.
The initial lineup includes popular stories such as The Slow Tortoise, The Flying Rabbit, The Homework Dilemma, and The Tree of Jalebis, each designed to deliver meaningful life lessons around perseverance, creativity, responsibility, and kindness through engaging storytelling.
For decades, Champak has been a staple of childhood in India, known for its imaginative world of talking animals and value-driven narratives. The transition to audio aims to extend this legacy into modern, screen-free formats that fit seamlessly into daily routines—whether during bedtime, travel, or shared family moments.
Audible’s adaptations feature expressive narration, rich sound design, and dynamic performances, bringing a fresh dimension to the stories while preserving their original charm. The initiative reflects a broader shift toward locally rooted content that resonates with global audiences, particularly in the children’s segment.

Shailesh Sawlani, Country Manager, India – Audible, said, “For years, Champak has been a beloved companion for children by fostering young minds’ curiosity and empathy through its simple yet meaningful stories. We’re excited to reintroduce this treasured part of Indian storytelling in a format that resonates with today’s listeners. By transforming these tales into immersive audio experiences, we hope to spark the same sense of wonder and curiosity that Champak has inspired for generations and offer families a new way to experience these ageless stories together.”
Richa Shah, Editor, India – Champak Magazine, said, “The first time a child’s eyes widen — it is when they hear a story. Stories change children. Not in a big dramatic way — but quietly, steadily, story by story. The child who hears inclusive stories grows up more open. The child who hears adventurous stories grows up braver. And Champak stories are rooted in these values. Bringing these stories to Audible is the most natural next step. Because Audible means a child in Mumbai, in London, in Nairobi, in New York — anywhere — can close their eyes at bedtime, or look out of a car window on a long ride, and be taken somewhere wonderful. No screen. No images . Just a voice and their imagination. We wanted Champak to belong to every child who wanted to listen. Audible makes that possible.”
Currently, 46 Champak audiobooks are available on Audible, with the remaining titles expected to be released later this year. The collaboration highlights Audible’s continued commitment to preserving India’s storytelling heritage while expanding its portfolio of children’s audiobooks, Audible Originals, and podcasts aimed at educating, entertaining, and inspiring young audiences.
The Champak English audiobook collection is now available exclusively on Audible. Listeners can stream or download the titles via Audible.in or through the Audible app available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
