BARC Wk 38: Sun TV, Colors Kannada, Star Maa and Asianet retains leadership in South markets

BARC Wk 52 : Sun TV, Asianet, Colors Kannada and Star Maa retain leadership in South markets

Mumbai : The BARC data for week 38 for the period between Saturday, 15th September 2018 and Friday, 21st September 2018 has unveiled the ratings of the regional GEC’s and their performances this week. The rankings of the Tamil, Telugu and Kannada GEC’s remain unchanged whereas the Malayalam market has witnessed a subtle interchange of positions.

Tamil GEC market

The market leader Sun TV has continued its leadership position with 965420 (000s) impressions followed by Star Vijay and Zee Tamil with 488702 (000s) impressions and 484543 (000s) impressions respectively. The Sun network’s movie channel KTV 326292 (000s) impressions and its comedy channel Adithya TV 76966 (000s) impressions has retained its position in the 4th and 5th slots respectively. The programmes of Sun TV is seen taking the top 5 places this week with its fiction show Nayagi retaining its dominance with 12764 (000s) impressions.

Kannada GEC market

Viacom’s Kannada GEC, Colors Kannada has maintained its leadership position with 464823 (000s) impressions and while Zee Kannada 429512 (000s) impressions and Udaya TV 211020 (000s) impressions are also seen retaining their runner up position following the market leader. Sun Network’s Kannada movies channels Udaya movies 178822 (000s) impressions and Star Suvarna 149057 (000s) impressions are placed at the 4th and 5th slots respectively in the top 5 Kannada GEC list in week 38.  In week 38, the Kannada movie Sharan starrer Rambo 2, telecasted in Zee Kannada has emerged as the top rated programe this week. Colors Kannada’s fiction show LAKSHMI BAARAMMA with 6341 (000s) impressions has stepped down to the runner up position in week 38

Telugu GEC market

The Telugu GEC ranking remains the same against week 37, with Star Maa 594241 (000s) impressions leading the market followed by Zee Telugu 515588 (000s) impressions and ETV Telugu 439748 (000s) impressions respectively. Gemini TV 417222 (000s) impressions has settled in the 4th place with while the Telugu movie channel Gemini movies 174707 (000s) impressions has retained in the its 5th slot in the chart.The fiction shows of the market leader Star Maa has occupied top 5 slots of the top rated shows with Karthika Deepam retaining its dominance this week too.

Malayalam GEC market

Malayalam GEC market has witnessed a interchange in positions of Mazhavil Manorama 90947 (000s) impressions and Flowers TV 84030 (000s) impressions whereas the former is seen taking the 3rd place pushing away the latter to the 4th place. Asianet 328175 (000s) impressions continues to dominate the market followed by Surya TV with 107110 (000s) impressions. Asianet Movies with 73079 (000s) impressions stands at the 5th place in the chart in week 38.

Asianet’s fiction show Vanambadi has emerged as the top rated programme this week, pushing away the its last week’s topper Kasthooriman to the 3rd slot. Asianet’s fiction shows have been a great strenghth to the channel and fetches good viewership for the channel.
